Behind the Scenes of Writing My Newest Series

Writing has always been my way of creating magic, but it’s the characters who really make the story come to life. If you’ve been following along with the “Adventures of Remy,” you’ve probably noticed how much thought goes into each character’s journey. But now, I’m working on something entirely new—an exciting series that’s different from Remy’s world but just as enchanting.

I wanted to give you a little sneak peek behind the scenes of how I bring characters to life in my books. Creating a character is like getting to know a new friend—you learn what makes them tick, their quirks, and their dreams. It’s one of my favorite parts of the writing process.

1. Finding Inspiration in Everyday Life

A lot of my characters are inspired by the people around me, including kids I meet at reading events! Whether it’s their boundless energy, curiosity, or the funny way they say certain words, those details help me create characters that feel real.

2. Giving Characters Purpose

Every character has a role to play, even if it’s just to make you laugh. For my new series, I’m creating a cast of characters that will help kids explore important themes like bravery, friendship, and self-acceptance. I can’t wait to introduce you to them!

3. Sketching Out Their World

Once I know who my characters are, I love to imagine the world they live in. What do they see when they look out the window? Where do they go on adventures? All these little details make the story feel rich and immersive.

Stay tuned for more updates about my upcoming series! If you’re as excited as I am, be sure to sign up for my newsletter for exclusive sneak peeks and first looks at new illustrations.
